Q. On a fly-cruise holiday how do I get my luggage from the aircraft to the ship?

This varies depending on whether you are travelling on a chartered or scheduled flight. You may find the following question useful: How do I know if I am travelling on a chartered or scheduled flight?

Chartered flights

We’re pleased to be able to offer a seamless service known as ‘bonded baggage’ on selected chartered flights. This is how it works:

Ensure that all of your baggage has a P&O Cruises luggage label attached before you check-in at the airport, because once you check-in, the next time you see your bags will be in your cabin on board your ship!

Mediterranean fly-cruise 2017 – Oceana:

When you arrive at your destination airport you will pass through immigration; coaches will be waiting to transfer you directly to the cruise terminal and all checked baggage will be unloaded from the aircraft and taken directly to the ship, where it will be screened and delivered to your cabin.

Caribbean fly-cruise 2017/18:

When you arrive at your destination airport you do not need tol pass through immigration nor collect your checked bags; coaches will be waiting to transfer you directly to the cruise terminal and all checked baggage will be unloaded from the aircraft and taken directly to the ship, where it will be screened and delivered to your cabin.

Please note that for all destinations this means you won’t have any access to your baggage between check-in at your UK airport until it has been delivered to your cabin, so you should ensure that you keep any essentials in your hand luggage (remember to adhere to your airline’s hand baggage guidelines).

For your inbound flight, your luggage will be taken from outside your cabin the night before you depart. On your departure day it will be securely transferred to the airport, where it will be screened and then loaded onto the aircraft. You then collect your luggage from Baggage Reclaim upon your arrival back in the UK.

Please be aware that not all airline facilities such as Sundown Check-in or Day Before Bag Drop will be available on P&O Cruises chartered flights, even if it is a service usually offered by an airline.

The bonded baggage service is available on the following fly-cruise holidays:

Mediterranean fly-cruise 2017 – Oceana:

TUI Airways

Please Note: We are unable to offer the bonded baggage operation on flights with Thomas Cook Airlines and Jet2 as the aircraft are shared with other tour operators.

Caribbean fly-cruise 2017/18:

Azura and Britannia:

TUI Airways flights to Barbados and St Lucia

Thomas Cook Airlines flights to Barbados

Adonia:

We are offering both Virgin Atlantic chartered flights (from London Heathrow and Manchester) and Virgin Atlantic scheduled flights (from London Gatwick). The baggage operation for our chartered flights is yet to be confirmed.

For airlines and flights not mentioned above please see the scheduled flight information below.

Summer 2018 (Mediterranean fly-cruise) and winter 2018/19 (Caribbean fly-cruise and Arabian Gulf fly-cruise holidays)

Flight and baggage arrangements are yet to be confirmed.

Scheduled flights

For guests travelling on a scheduled flight, you will need to pass through immigration, collect your luggage and proceed through to Arrivals. If you booked your flight through P&O Cruises and are arriving on the day of sailing, there will be a P&O Cruises representative to meet you who will give you instructions for joining your coach transfer to the cruise terminal.

If you have arranged your own flights, or have arranged to fly out to your destination early, then you will need to make your own way to the cruise terminal.
